What is a safe Adsense CTR?

Click through rates (CTR) are an important factor especially when you have that site/sites up with relevant content and lots of unique traffic per day. A good amount of traffic per day would be between 3,000 unique visitors to 5,000 unique visitors. Well there is no harm in wanting to generate profits from a website where you devoted a ton of quality time into from quality content and a hundred invested hours marketing. Especially when you are paying for keywords in sponsored links in search engine programs like Google Adwords, Yahoo Search Marketing (formerly Overture), Mamma and Ask Jeeves. Cash generated can help out hugely when you are spending, be it little or huge amounts of money, generated income will help out hugely.

That brings us to what are safe CTR’s for Adsense? I believe a great rate of click throughs would be the highest you can get, somewhere like 50% to 80%. However, has it occurred to anyone that a rate between 20% to 35% would be the ideal range. Before I start receiving hate mail hear me through.

What does it mean if your click through is that high? Obviously, that there are a lot of people coming to your site just to leave it. What if they say, “Huh, what if we penalize these sites because they are specifically generated to make money from Adsense?” they might smart price you and you wouldn’t even know they did and why. Of course many will not agree but I say a CTR between 20% to 35% is ideal. Best advice is to generate clicks between those figures while making your ads obtrusive, inconspicuous and blended into content. This further benefits you because visitors don’t get fed up of the ads therefore decreasing your returning visitors. Remember, returning visitors generate free hits and further your marketing better because they tell their friends. Free traffic is always a plus. So heed my words and test my theory and maybe one day this can become your work at home job.
